Office Desks Furniture

A classic office desk is designed specifically so it has enough space for your entire IT system (your monitor, CPU, printer etc) as well as providing additional features such as file drawers and a general work area for writing notes, housing books, etc. Whilst these desks are the preferred choice for many business offices, a desk of this type should not be ruled out for home office use, especially if you have considerable space and storage requirements.

Computer workstations

A computer workstation is effectively a computer desk without additional features like file drawers, a filing system or a work space of any substance. It is critical to make the distinction between ‘workstations’ and ‘desks’ at an early stage because it can save you a great deal of time - not only in terms of your research on the subject but even more vitally a potential waste of money due to a purchasing the wrong product.

Computer cabinets Computer cabinets can be based on a workstation or desk concept, but they have the added advantage of concealing your computer behind closed doors when it is not in use. Because of their unobtrusive qualities, cabinets look extremely well placed in living rooms or bedrooms as well as in home offices. They also have advantages from a security point of view, because your expensive computer system is hidden away behind fully lockable doors and therefore less likely to attract potential thieves. Some cabinets even offer enough space for the chair to be locked away too. Always make sure you check the dimensions of the units with the doors open before you buy, as this extra need for space can prove problematic to some smaller offices. Once you decide on the type of unit that you prefer all that is left is the choice of material and the actual look and design of the cabinet. This will no doubt come down to your personal aesthetic preference, and also the office furniture that you already have in place. There is very little difference between office desks and computer desks. Some manufacturers are concerned that calling their product a computer desk is too specific so prefer to use the office desk terminology. Either can be appropriate so do not discount a computer desk if you have no computer and equally if you are looking for somewhere to house your computer do not overlook generic office desks.
